#80 Draw a portrait of someone you like

Thommy started in my class when we were ten years old. This might sound like a Tomas Andersson Wij song, but it's not. It's the truth. We lived in Hisingen and everything revolved around walking to and from school without dying.

The first day it said Jan on Thommy's nameplate. The next day it said Thommy. The third day I'd discovered that he was drawing something. I leaned forward to see what it was. On a white A4-page tiny creatures with weird hairdos that threw things at eachother with slingshots or guns on tv-game landscapes, and dragons that blew fire, were born. I got out my own paper on my desk and started to draw tiny Thommy-figures. I tried to create similar hairstyles, to draw seams on the trousers and tiny clouds of dust at the back of running figures. Tomas Andersson Wij is on repeat here.

Me and Thommy have known eachother for nearly sixteen years now. We've been caught in customs once, cried together at a Morrissey concert and our mothers say hi to eachother at the supermarket.

It's time to draw a portrait of Thommy. As a salute, A tribute. Besides, Thommy does look a bit like a cartoon character.

Required time:
Ten minutes.
Cost:
The cost for paper and a pen, but you should already own this if you've followed this blog for more then ten days. If not, buy it. A pad and a nice pen is about 5 euro. Use a pencil or a pen, depending on what you prefer. Try charcoal, crayons or colored pencils. Do not spend too much time on the drawing, go for your first feeling. Don't think too fucking much. Just draw. 90 percent observing and 10 percent drawing as my father would say.
Cons:
Thommy might get upset if the portrait is too ugly.
Pros:
Thommy might get happy if the portrait is nicely done.
