#137 Be alone together
A hermit is a person who is alone by themselves. To go on a hermitage is to be alone with someone else.
I woke up to E singing to me. I opened my eyes and she had Leo in her arms. He didn't sing, but instead shrugged his whiskers and looked at me and wondered what happened. I got a kiss, a sandwich, a cake and an envelope with MY LOVE written on it.
It's the second of May, my 26th birthday, and I haven't wished for anything in particular. But E knows me. She knows what I need.
The envelope is a factsheet about a holiday village in Östergötland, in Ödeshög. There's a couple who've built cabins in the woods. You go there and stay in a cabin with no electricity, no Internet, no noise and no mobile phones. You chop wood, light a fire in the fireplace and eat dinner together. The food is cooked on the things that are in the woods, weed pie, dandelion salad and some sort of drink made from birch sap.
But you don't really need advanced tricks to live a hermit life. You can start by leaving the mobile at home. Then, go into the woods and find a good camping spot. And then you taste the bark, pinecones and blueberries.
A hermit is a person who is alone by themselves. Going on hermitage is to be alone together; to give yourself time and space. Adding oxygen to stimulate growth.
