#147 Make a salad out of weeds

The blog is called 365 things you can do but for some reason 365 has become both a verb and adjective. It started as a blog at www.365saker.se on the first of January 2009 but has grown into a large tree (or a network of weeds) in Sweden. In particular, Örebro, Uddevalla, Malmö and Umeå, people have begun to find their own things that are 365 or started a 365: a turn of phrase that they themselves use. How does this sound:

- I've just given away my body parts and made a t-shirt with a pair of lungs on the front.

- That is so 365.

Or:

- What do you want to do tomorrow?

- Me and some buddies are gonna go out on the town and 365 a bit.

To do things yourself. To not buy unnecessary things. To think one step further. To do, be or become; 365 is a thousand different things.

The first time I ate weed salad, I knew that it was 365. Not to buy a finished salad or even buy the ingredients to make salad, but instead pick it in the woods or from a meadow. Learn to use what nature offers. Be creative with what exists. That's 365.

Dandelion Salad:
Pick young dandelion leaves
Mix with a dressing consisting of a good vinegar, olive oil, herbal salt and possibly a little garlic.

Required time:
20 minutes.
Cost:
€4 for vinegar, olive oil, garlic and herbal salt if you do not have it at home.
Cons:
Do not pick dandelion leaves that grow near a road. They could be dirty or a dog could have urinated on them.
Pros:
You are using the existing natural resources and delicacies. Dandelion leaf is better than you would imagine.
