#152 Make a voodoo doll
A few years ago, me and my dad were in a grocery store to buy milk and bread. I think we were talking about Roy Orbison. My dad loves Roy Orbison. When he had a tape deck in his old Saab there was always a mix tape with the best of Roy Orbison. When we passed the bread we talked about how beautiful "Only the Lonely" is and how the choir enters perfectly despite being a bit excited. Around the fruit counter we talked about how he always had his black glasses on. But when we got to the milk we saw a man staring at us. My dad smiled at him and I looked at my dad. Time stood kind of still. Then suddenly the man began to approach us. He had a light beige trench coat on and square glasses. Sparse hair on his head and a white shirt that his stomach had trouble fitting into. When he was only half a meter away from us with dad's eyes locked with his, dad's smile turned into a questioning look, and then the man began to bark. Like a dog. Both me and my dad flinched. The man continued to bark and I looked at my dad to get some sort of response. And then he stopped barking. Just as abruptly as he had begun. And he began to laugh and walk away from us. He turned around just before he began walking towards the potato chips and said:
- It's so fun to do that. People get so scared every time. Serves you right.
My father patted me on the head and scratched me a bit in the neck. Then he put a carton of milk in the blue basket. We didn't talk more until we got home. Then he put on the television and said something about the news. I do not remember what.
