#180 Learn how to save lives
My name is Navid Modiri and I'm 27 years old. If someone would start to bleed, get short of breath or collapse I do not know how to handle it. I can improvise. Adding together the knowledge I have gained from watching Gray's Anatomy, ER and House. But I would be nervous as hell. And sweaty. Should you lie people on their side or place them on their back?
It's embarrassing that I have already lived a quarter of my life without knowing how to handle an emergency: If a fire starts, or if someone faints or has a heart attack. I've been through some chaotic situations. I know that I behave very calmly. I call 911. I will help, wrap blankets around the person, check that they're breathing, but I'm sweaty and nervous and waiting every second for the rescue personnel to show up. But what if you're in a place where it takes time before the ambulance arrives, if it even shows up?
It's time to shape up and take a course in first aid.
