#28 Learn to juggle

If you take the tram and look at people's necks in a curve so it looks incredibly silly. We Swedes have a built-in mechanism in the upper neck vertebrae that allows the head to tremble as soon as the tram turns. What makes it look even sillier is that we try to pretend it doesn’t happen.

It is kind of the same thing with juggling. You will look incredibly stupid for several hours and you will try to ignore it. But hang in there. It will take time and probably you will eventually slam one of the objects onto the floor or at the wall and shout random curses. The trick is to keep practicing.

Breathe in squares. Put on some music and make up your mind that you’re going to make it. Make sure you have a room where you have high ceilings and as few porcelain tigers and trinkets as possible.

More tips:

- Start with two balls

- Try to juggle against a wall

- Imagine that the balls / juggling objects are heavy to help your sense of balance

- Try to think rhythmically

- Bend your knees a bit

- Look straight ahead

And next time you leave the tram, sit in the back and look at all the necks in front of you. How stiff and boring they look when they deny each curve. Laugh to yourself as someone who has a secret.

Required time:
Between 30 minutes and a lifetime.
Cost:
10 Euros for three juggling balls. Or free if you take three soft objects you already have at home. Three tennis balls, mandarins or small sand bags.
Cons:
None. Except that sometimes you can get pretty angry because it doesn’t feel like it’s going well at all.
Pros:
You practice your coordination, your focus and body control. It’s also an incredibly relaxing exercise and a kick-ass party trick. Suddenly you juggle with everything from babies to the mandarins.
