Trading things is the new black. Instead of supporting the production rate of yore and consuming like a herd of hysterical sheep, we people have found a new way of getting new things. We trade with eachother. The consumer society actually started with trade. And thousands of years later we're back at it.
1. If you see someone with a piece of clothing or some other thing that you like, walk up to the person and stop them. Ask if he or she would be interested in trading for the coveted object in question.
2. Offer one or more things to trade in return. The person in question might want to negotiate. A scarf for a cloth bag. A pair of shorts for a pair of paints. Two socks for a nice hat. A bottle of water for a cinnamon roll.
3. After agreeing, shake hands to seal the deal. Then make the trade.
Required time:
Five minutes.
Cost:
It costs nothing in actual money.
Cons:
You may change your mind after a few days. But please bear in mind that it's only a thing, garment. It is a worldly thing.
Pros:
No more unnecessary money wasted on buying new clothes. You help save the planet and also have a new stylish scarf instead of the old red one you were tired of. Win-Win.
